Sunday, October 8: Blessing of the Animals at 10 am. Bring your furry friends on a leash or in a carrier for a special blessing. We’ll be outside for our service unless it’s rainy or soggy. We’ll worship in the church Parish Hall if the weather is not cooperating. Our Youth Choir will be singing as well as the Parish Choir. St Francis will make a special appearance with fresh baked bread and treats for the pets!

4 pm 60th Anniversary Celebration of Organist Harold Sherman at First United Church of Christ, 112 Market Street, Hyndman, PA. A reception will follow.

6:30 pm Monastery Without Walls in the Church. A contemplative worship service with Emmanuel’s “monks” We will pray for the victims of Las Vegas as well as the victims of recent natural disasters.

Sunday, October 15 Lunch and Learning after the 10 am service. Join Dr Amy Armiento, Professor of English at Frostburg State, as she talks about our historical memory through literature. She will also prepare us for the Underground Railroad Re-enactment of Samuel Denson’s Last Run on Saturday evening, November 4.

Fellowship Dinners: Outreach Committee on Friday, October 13 at 6 pm. Join Terry Michels and Sam Isom (Co-Chairs of the Outreach Committee) as we come together to vision new ways to reach out to the Cumberland community and beyond. They will provide a delicious main course of ham and fixins. Please bring a side dish to share.
Choir Dinner on Friday, October 27.Calling all folks who love music. If you sing in a choir, play in the bell choir or just love music, please join the choir for a supper to learn about what’s going on in our music program and what might be in the future. Mary Ann Chapman is recreating a pastamania type dinner. So come one, come all!

Rev. Martha Debuts her new novel Ready to Fly at the Gordon-Roberts House at their final tea of the year. Friday, October 27 at 11 am.

Halloween on the Hill 2-4 (see flyer sent)

Saturday, November 4 7-9 pm Re-enactment of Samuel Denson’s Last Run on the Underground Railroad. Join FSU and ACM students as we re-enact the last run of the Underground Railroad. Join gospel choirs and Cumberland’s long-standing African -American families in worship. End the evening with a reception with food prepared by our ACM hospitality students.

Sunday, November 5 All Saints Sunday 8 am and 10 am We remember those we love who we have lost.
