The Bridge to Youth is an outreach to the urban poor in cooperation with members of Ebenezer Full Gospel Baptist Church, Metropolitan AME Church, and the Athletic Department of Frostburg State University.
Recreation Days – take place in the spring and fall. On a Saturday morning, children are picked up by bus and driven to Frostburg State. There the faculty and students treat them to a day of team sports and swimming. Sometimes they go to a football game. They have lunch while on campus and ride home at the end of the day.
Sports Camps – Many of our children cannot afford to attend the excellent sports camps offered in our community. So, Bridge to Youth sponsors them to the AYSO Soccer Camp and Coach Bob Kirk’s Basketball Camp at Allegany College each summer.
Fishing Days – That’s right! Through the generous support of Wal Mart, Bridge to Youth also offers a fishing clinic in the trout-rich streams that surround the Cumberland area.
Cultural and Language Enrichment – Also through the Bridge to Youth, after-school programs that include Art, Reading and Spanish are offered at the Church for periods of six weeks during the academic year.
