  • Gracious and loving God, we thank you for sending your life-giving Spirit to dwell with us in the community of Emmanuel Parish; infuse us with passion for worship of you, and for service to the greater community of Cumberland and beyond. Give us wisdom and perseverance in being a mutually supportive, inviting and inclusive congregation; and help us in all things to follow the example of him whom we call “God with us,” even Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.

    Amen

Thursdays at 12 Noon – Holy Eucharist Rite I with the Laying On of Hands is offered most Thursdays along with a homily on the Saint of the Day. This time is also used for the celebration of special days such as the Feast of the Ascension and Thanksgiving Day. When major Feasts fall on Thursdays, there is music at this service.

Seasonal Services

Non-Pandemic

CHRISTMAS is kept with a Family Eucharist at 4:00 on Christmas Eve, a Festival Eucharist with a major musical presentation beginning at 10:30 PM, and with Holy Eucharist Rite I and music at 10:30 Christmas Morning. In HOLY WEEK there are special services and events Wednesday through Saturday.

Lay Leadership is vitally important to the worship life of this congregation which includes men, women, and youth who assist in all scheduled services, preside and preach at services when none of the clergy are present, and bring the Sacrament to the sick and shut-ins. As well, there are many who serve as Lay Readers and Intercessors.
